T25 INTERMITTENT WIPERS

Right then, those of you with early T25s that want the intermittent wipe facility of the later vehicles read on.  Apart from some wire and a few terminals all you need is the wash/wipe relay unit off of almost any '82 - '90 VW, they almost all used the same part, down the breakers again.

Now to the fitting, decide where you are going to fit the relay [mine is strapped to the steering column inside the cowling] now trace the relevant wires according to terminal numbers (these are embossed on the units)  I've not shown VW wiring colours because from experience they can't always be relied upon.

All you need do is cut and crimp on terminals and connect as per the diagram, you'll see if you study the diagram that all connections are easy enough to follow.  Finally the switch, take a careful look at the existing switch and you'll see a small "white" peg, remove this and the switch will now move one place downwards as well as two positions upwards, this down position is the intermittent wipe position.

I have tried to make this easy enough to follow, but if you have any problems then email me and I'll answer any questions.

One other point, the battery should be disconnected whilst doing any alterations to an electrical system, cutting live wires should be left to idiots like me.
